Description: the plant is similar to sweet pepper, but unlike the latter, it produces particularly spicy fruits due to the presence of an active ingredient called capsaicin. The stem is erect and the leaves from lanceolate to oval provided with a petiole. The flowers are white. Flowering occurs in late spring-summer and the fruits, of different shape and color depending on the species and cultivar, are fleshy berries, hollow inside.

Medicinal properties: contains high amounts of vitamin C, Bi, B2, PP, provitamin A and capsaicin, the substance responsible for spiciness. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and helps digestion by increasing the secretion of gastric juices. Effective in the treatment of colds, sinusitis, and bronchitis.
